Chivayo Splashes US$34 Million On Private Jet, Sparks Frenzy On Social Media

Polarising Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has once again set social media ablaze after announcing the purchase of a US$34 million private jet, adding another headline-grabbing luxury asset to his increasingly extravagant public lifestyle.

Chivayo revealed that he had acquired a Gulfstream G550, one of the world’s most recognisable ultra-long-range business jets often associated with billionaires, royalty and global executives.

In a characteristically flamboyant social media post mixing religion, humour, celebration and patriotism, Chivayo said the aircraft was ready for collection and would soon arrive in Zimbabwe.

It’s an ULTRA-LONG-RANGE business jet known for its 6,750 nautical miles range… I can travel Harare-London or Paris or Milan or Singapore non stop.”

The businessman claimed the aircraft cost “a cool 34 MILLION USD,” before adding:

“Ndiyo iya inonzi LIFE OF THE RICH & FAMOUS.”

The Gulfstream G550 is widely regarded as one of the premier long-range executive aircraft in private aviation.

Known for its luxurious interior, long-distance capabilities and elite clientele, the jet can carry up to 19 passengers and travel thousands of kilometres without refuelling.
