ENGLAND – Zimbabwean fullback CJ Nyakuhwa continues to make steady strides in his professional journey after being recalled from loan to Tamworth FC’s first team, where he delivered a composed and disciplined performance in a crucial cup quarter-final.
The 20-year-old, who had been gaining valuable minutes at Nuneaton FC, was drafted back into the Tamworth squad and immediately trusted with a starting role at left back, despite his natural position being on the right.

Speaking to ZiGoats after the match, Nyakuhwa revealed how quickly he had to adapt to the moment:
“I was recalled from loan to play for my first team yesterday in a cup quarter final. It was my first start for the first team and I played the full 90 minutes at left back.”
Composed Under Pressure
The match between Tamworth and Stourbridge ended 1-1 in regulation time, with Tamworth holding their nerve to win on penalties and book a place in the semi-finals.
Nyakuhwa’s performance did not go unnoticed. Match reports highlighted his defensive awareness and timing in key moments, including crucial blocks and last-ditch interventions that denied clear scoring opportunities.
“Thompson-McKenzie denied by a perfectly timed last ditch challenge from Nyakuhwa… the referee waved away shouts for a penalty and the final whistle blew…”
Operating on his weaker side, Nyakuhwa showed tactical intelligence, composure, and adaptability, traits increasingly demanded of the modern fullback.
Making Noise the Right Way
For Nyakuhwa, the recall is more than just an opportunity, it is validation of a mindset he has consistently spoken about.
“I talk on the pitch with my feet and actions… when I’m given the chance, I deliver.”
His loan spell at Nuneaton was designed to provide regular senior football, a crucial phase in his development after signing his first professional contract with Tamworth in October 2025. That decision is now paying off.
From a career setback after being released in his youth days to rebuilding through discipline and performance, Nyakuhwa’s trajectory reflects resilience and focus.

Eyes on Higher Levels and National Duty
The Warriors prospect is clear about his ambitions. Beyond club football, he is targeting international recognition with Zimbabwe’s Under-23 side or senior national team, while also positioning himself for moves into higher leagues.

His long-term vision includes playing in elite competitions such as the EFL Championship, Scottish Premiership, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and ultimately the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
At a time when Zimbabwe is searching for modern, versatile fullbacks capable of handling intensity and tactical demands, Nyakuhwa is quietly building a strong case.
