Warriors Defender Brendan Zibusiso Galloway Produces Another Show-stopping Goal As Plymouth Extends Winning Streak

By Advent Shoko

Plymouth Argyle captain Brendon Galloway once again proved why he’s one of the League One standout defenders, scoring the only goal to secure a 1-0 win over Luton Town at Home Park on Saturday, 24 January 2026. The Warriors centre-back pounced quickest on a Lorent Tolaj header that hit the crossbar, giving Plymouth their fourth consecutive win (3 league, 1 Football League Trophy).

The match saw several near misses for the Pilgrims: Matty Sorinola’s long-range drive, Ronan Curtis’ 20-yard thunderbolt off the bar, and Alex Mitchell’s crucial goalline clearance kept Luton’s hopes at bay. Plymouth’s defensive solidity shone, frustrating the Hatters throughout.

Brendon Galloway is on a remarkable scoring run, netting three goals in a single month. He opened the scoring against Burton Albion in the 21st minute on 4 January, struck again in the 47th minute versus Bristol Rovers on 13 January, and delivered the match-winner against Luton Town in first-half stoppage time on 24 January. Not bad at all for a defender. The Warriors man is truly leading from the back, and right now, plenty of strikers would envy his finishing touch.

Meanwhile, Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba was once again absent from the Luton Town matchday squad. The midfielder has featured only once since returning from AFCON 2025 in Morocco, coming off the bench during a 2–1 defeat to Swindon Town on 13 January when the team was already trailing. The former Aston Villa and Club Brugge midfielder has not played since, raising growing questions about his fitness, match sharpness, or where he currently stands in Luton’s plans during a crucial phase of the season.

Saturday, 24 January 2026 – League One & Two Results:

  • Plymouth Argyle 1 – 0 Luton Town (B. Galloway 45+3’)
  • Cardiff City 1 – 1 Stockport County
  • Huddersfield Town 1 – 0 Bradford City
  • Blackpool 2 – 0 Northampton Town
  • Bolton Wanderers 2 – 1 Leyton Orient
  • Doncaster Rovers 3 – 3 Wigan Athletic
  • Port Vale 1 – 3 Exeter City
  • Reading 2 – 2 Barnsley
  • Rotherham United 1 – 1 AFC Wimbledon
  • Stevenage 1 – 1 Mansfield Town
  • Wycombe Wanderers 0 – 2 Peterborough United

Galloway’s heroics underline his growing reputation as a set-piece threat and key defensive leader for both club and country. With Plymouth riding high, and Nakamba missing games post-AFCON, the Warriors’ contingent in England is making headlines across leagues.
