Zimbabwean striker Tawanda Maswanhise is turning the Scottish Premiership into his personal playground, and fans believe England’s Premier League should be his next stop.

The 23-year-old forward delivered another statement performance, scoring twice in the first half as Motherwell cruised to a 2–0 victory over Livingston. Sharp, composed and clinical, Maswanhise looked every bit like a striker ready for a bigger stage.

He opened the scoring early, rising high to power home a pinpoint cross from Lennon Miller. Before Livingston could regroup, he struck again in the 28th minute, latching onto Callum Slattery’s clever through ball and finishing with confidence beyond his years.

Red-Hot Form No One Can Ignore

The brace took Maswanhise to 14 league goals in just 22 matches, putting him at the top of the scoring charts. Even more impressive, he has now scored in five consecutive games since returning from AFCON 2025 duty. Across all competitions, he now boasts 18 goals in 30 appearances this season, elite numbers for a player still developing and adapting to Scottish football.

Motherwell’s win pushed them to within two points of leaders Celtic and extended their unbeaten run to four matches. But the bigger story is the man leading their charge.

Transfer Talk Heating Up

With form like this, interest is inevitable. Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are monitoring him closely, while reports suggest English clubs, including Blackburn, have also made enquiries. Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou, however, has poured cold water on any immediate exit. The manager signalled the club’s desire to hold onto their prized asset a little longer.  He said firmly:

“He’s not for sale this month,”

Still, fans across social media aren’t convinced he should stay in Scotland much longer. One supporter posted:

“A perfect striker is staring us right in the face and we’re not making a move?”

Another added:

“This man needs to be in the Premier League next season.”

From Zimbabwe Hero to European Rising Star

Back home in Zimbabwe, Maswanhise’s rise is being celebrated with pride. Supporters have embraced Motherwell as an adopted club, waking up early and staying up late just to watch their new talisman shine.

His journey, from Leicester City’s development system to becoming one of Scotland’s most lethal forwards, is inspiring a new generation of Zimbabwean footballers dreaming of Europe.

Right now, Maswanhise isn’t just scoring goals. He’s building a reputation. And if this form continues, the Premier League call may not be a question of if, but when.
