The headline-grabbing gesture came wrapped in a deeply personal tribute that instantly went viral. Chivayo opened with his signature flair, declaring: “NDIRI MU SALALA…and you know what I mean!!!”, a nod to EXQ’s timeless influence on Zimbabwe’s urban grooves culture.
He didn’t hold back in praising the artist’s legacy, adding:
“Today, your time has finally come. I wish to celebrate a TRUE ICON…MR EXQIZIT…MR PUTITI…the REAL MUSALALA.”
The message struck a chord with fans who have followed EXQ’s journey from early 2000s hitmaker to enduring cultural figure.
Rising to fame with classics like “Musalala,” “Mazirudo,” and “Pandakaona,” EXQ helped define an era of Zimbabwean music. More than two decades later, he remains relevant with newer releases, continuing to inspire both fans and emerging artists.
Chivayo also highlighted the musician’s social impact, referencing his anti-gender-based violence message: “Let’s LOVE our women, let’s NOT HARASS our women…”, a stance that has elevated EXQ beyond music into advocacy.
The defining moment came with the life-changing announcement:
“Please go and see Victor at Exquisite Motors on Monday and collect your NEW 2025 Mercedes Benz GLE 450…110 thousand USD paid in full…You will also receive USD10,000.”
He signed off in style:
“ENJOY your new ride my brother…and keep holding it down, STRAIGHT SALAD!!!”
In a fast-moving industry, this moment feels bigger than a gift, it’s recognition. And for EXQ, the “Musalala” wave isn’t fading anytime soon.
