In a lengthy and emotional message, Chivayo praised the award-winning singer, born Felistus Winnie Chipendo, as a “phenomenal woman” and “true definition of a hard worker,” applauding her impact in music, fashion, and entrepreneurship.
He described Feli Nandi as a “musical genius” whose Afro-fusion sound echoes the legacy of late icon Chiwoniso Maraire. Chivayo singled out tracks like Muti Watemwa, Ndobatirira, and Mubayei as personal favourites, noting how her music continues to inspire, heal, and celebrate African identity.
Beyond music, the businessman highlighted Nandi’s cultural influence through her fashion line and her restaurant, Kwa Nandi, where she promotes traditional African cuisine. He linked her efforts to the cultural preservation initiatives spearheaded by Auxilia Mnangagwa, particularly the nationwide traditional cookout campaigns.
In a dramatic finale, Chivayo announced a high-value reward for the singer’s dedication and influence, a brand new Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6 and a cash prize of US$50,000, both fully paid for and ready for collection.
He credited Nandi for breaking stereotypes, creating employment, and becoming a role model for young Zimbabwean women, saying her journey reflects the power of talent combined with discipline and cultural pride.
The gesture has sparked mixed reactions online, with some applauding the recognition of local talent, while others questioned the growing trend of high-profile giveaways.
Still, for many fans, the moment stands as a powerful celebration of hard work, culture, and the rising influence of Zimbabwean creatives on the national stage.
