Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi could be heading for an unexpected return to the English Premier League, with Nottingham Forest reportedly pushing for a deal that may interrupt his growing spell in France.

Munetsi only recently moved to Ligue 1 side Paris FC on loan from Wolves, a switch that was seen as an opportunity to reset and rebuild momentum after a demanding spell in England. Since arriving in France, the midfielder has impressed with consistent performances, quickly becoming a key figure in the squad and openly expressing his desire to remain.
““My family likes it here in Paris. My two boys were born in France. It is also my country a bit,” Munetsi has previously indicated, signalling strong personal attachment to his current environment.
However, transfer developments back in England suggest that his long-term plans may be disrupted.
French football journalist Santi Aouna reported on X that Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers are edging closer to an agreement over the Zimbabwean midfielder, even as his preference leans elsewhere. Aouna wrote in French:
“Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton are close to a principle agreement for Marshall Munetsi.”
He added a crucial twist that complicates the situation:
“However, the player’s priority remains Paris FC, where he wishes to continue the adventure. But… no discussions have been held with the capital club at this time.”
The situation now places Munetsi at the centre of a three-way negotiation dynamic involving Wolves, Forest, and Paris FC, with the player’s personal preference potentially clashing with club-level agreements.
For Nottingham Forest, the move reflects a push to strengthen midfield depth with a physically robust, high-energy international who has already proven himself in the Premier League system. For Wolves, it is a potential decision point on squad restructuring and player valuation.
Should an agreement be finalised, Munetsi could find himself back in England sooner than expected, re-entering a league he knows well, but under very different circumstances.
