In an official statement seen by ZiGoats, ZIFA said it is “pleased to confirm that the Warriors will participate in the Unity Cup 2026, a four-nation international tournament to be held at The Valley in London.”
The tournament will feature Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Jamaica and India, with the Warriors drawn against Nigeria in the opening semi-final on 26 May, while Jamaica face India on 27 May. Both matches are scheduled for 7:30pm kick-off, with the winners progressing to the final on 30 May.
For Zimbabwe, this is a genuinely historic occasion.
ZIFA described it as “a historic occasion for the Warriors, who will be playing in England in a tournament of this nature for the first time.”
That line alone captures the scale of the moment.
This is not just another friendly competition, it is a major international showcase in one of the world’s biggest football cities, with thousands of Zimbabweans in the diaspora expected to rally behind the national team.
The Unity Cup returns to The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic F.C., where the tournament was previously held in 2004, and has since grown into a celebration of football, culture and diaspora identity.
ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi hailed the event as a major step forward, saying the tournament “reflects our ambition to compete, grow and test ourselves at a high international level.”
Head coach Marian Marinică also welcomed the platform, while captain Marvelous Nakamba said playing in London before Zimbabwean supporters makes the occasion even more special.
Importantly, the Warriors head into the tournament in confident mood after emerging victorious in the recent four-nation tournament in Botswana, where they overcame hosts Botswana alongside Zambia and Malawi.
That winning momentum now travels to London.
For many fans, the clash against Nigeria national football team offers the perfect measuring stick ahead of future continental assignments.
The Warriors are coming, and London is ready.
