Zimbabwe’s preparations for the Four Nations Tournament have taken another turn, with the Zimbabwe Football Association confirming a wave of late squad changes following multiple injury withdrawals.

In an official update, ZIFA revealed that four players have been ruled out of the Warriors squad:

“The following players have been ruled out of the Warriors squad through injury:

Knowledge Musona

Tawanda Maswanhise

Prince Dube

Thando Ngwenya

Maswanhise was due to travel for a Four Nations Tournament, however, the forward reported a small issue following Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Hibernian, and the player will remain in Scotland to manage the issue.”

The absence of key attacking figures, including Knowledge Musona and Tawanda Maswanhise, leaves a noticeable gap in Zimbabwe’s frontline, forcing the technical team to rethink its approach ahead of the regional tournament.

In response, ZIFA has moved quickly to name replacements, offering opportunities to locally-based talent and emerging players:

  • Washington Navaya (Hardrock)
  • Jarrison Selemani (FC Platinum)
  • Mongameli Tshuma (Highlanders)
  • Godknows Murwira (Scottland FC)

The changes signal a clear shift towards giving domestic league players a chance to step up on the international stage, particularly at a time when injuries have disrupted the original squad balance.

While this is the first time the Bosso star has been called, for players like Murwira, Selemani, and Navaya this is another chance to prove they can translate club form into national team impact. For Zimbabwe, it is a test of depth, adaptability, and squad resilience.

The Four Nations Tournament, featuring Botswana, Malawi, and Zambia, now takes on added significance. What was initially a routine international window has quickly evolved into a proving ground for new faces and fringe players aiming to stake a claim in the Warriors setup.

With several senior players sidelined, the spotlight now shifts to the replacements, and whether they can rise to the occasion when it matters most.
