Zimbabwe’s preparations for the Mukuru 4 Nations Tournament final have suffered a major blow after star defender Teenage Hadebe was suspended for one match following a breach of the Warriors’ camp code of conduct.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zimbabwe Football Association) confirmed the development in an official statement on Monday, just hours before the eagerly anticipated Four Nations Tournament final against Zambia.
In a firm but measured statement, ZIFA said:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association confirms that Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe has been found in breach of the team’s camp code of conduct.”
The association added that disciplinary action had been taken in line with team regulations, ruling the experienced centre-back out of the final showdown. Read the statement:
“Teenage Hadebe has been suspended for one match and will therefore miss the final of the Mukuru 4 Nations Tournament against Zambia.”
While the association did not state the reason for the suspension, it’s strongly believed that the former Kaizer Chiefs gangly defender was sidelined after appearing on TikTok with a bottle of whiskey ahead of the final against Zambia.
For the Warriors, this is a significant setback.
Hadebe has been one of Zimbabwe’s most dependable defenders over the years, bringing leadership, composure, and international experience to the backline. His absence now forces coach Marian Marinică to reshuffle his defence ahead of one of the team’s biggest tests in the tournament.
However, in what appears to be a positive sign for team unity, the player has already owned up to the mistake.
ZIFA confirmed that “the player has since apologised to the team and the Association, and has accepted the disciplinary outcome.”
That quick acceptance could help limit disruption inside the camp as Zimbabwe looks to build on the momentum from their impressive 3-0 semi-final win over Botswana.
The governing body also used the moment to reinforce its stance on professionalism and discipline within the national team setup. ZIFA said:
“The Association and the technical team remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and accountability within the national team setup.”
For fans, the news will be disappointing, especially with the Warriors chasing silverware and regional bragging rights against Chipolopolo.
Yet it also sends a strong message: no player, regardless of stature, is above team rules.
As Zimbabwe heads into the final, all eyes will now be on who steps up to fill Hadebe’s boots in a match that promises intensity, rivalry, and high stakes.
