Gorimbo is set to face rising Australian fighter Jonathan Micallef at a UFC Fight Night: Della Maddalena vs. Prates event scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at the RAC Arena in Perth. The welterweight clash is part of a stacked card headlined by Jack Della Maddalena and Carlos Prates.
From humble beginnings in Bikita to fighting on one of the world’s biggest MMA stages, Gorimbo remains grounded but fiercely confident. He said this Friday:
“From Bikita to Perth Australia 🇦🇺. The only way to say it is that I am grateful. Boos or cheers, it’s all the same when that cage door closes. Pressure is a privilege. Tomorrow I will inspire you. I will be victorious.”
The 35-year-old enters the fight with a professional record of 14-6-0 and is determined to bounce back from a challenging run of results. Known for his resilience and powerful grappling, Gorimbo sees this fight as a turning point in his UFC journey.
Standing across from him is Micallef, nicknamed “The Captain,” who boasts an impressive 9-1 record and will have the home crowd firmly behind him. The Australian’s fast rise in the division adds extra intensity to what is already shaping up to be a high-stakes encounter.
For Gorimbo, this is more than just a fight, it’s a chance to represent Zimbabwe on the global stage and inspire a new generation of fighters back home.
As the cage door closes in Perth, all eyes will be on Gorimbo to see if belief, grit, and national pride can carry him to a statement victory.
