Zimbabwe Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms Expected Across Northern Provinces

Zimbabwe is set for a mixed bag of weather conditions from Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 February 2026, with thunderstorms expected across northern and central provinces while southern regions remain mostly warm and partly cloudy, according to a latest weather forecast.

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) says moisture over Harare Metropolitan and the Mashonaland provinces triggered isolated showers on Thursday, with Wedza recording 20mm, Chibero 12mm and Mhondoro 9mm.

Matabeleland North, Midlands, Bulawayo Metropolitan, northern Manicaland, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland provinces should expect mostly cloudy and warm conditions with scattered thundershowers. There is a risk of localized heavy rainfall, particularly in northern Manicaland and Mashonaland East.

Authorities are urging residents to seek shelter in safe buildings during thunderstorms to avoid lightning strikes.
