CHINHOYI, Zimbabwe – Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has taken a decisive step in investing in the country’s future by officially launching a new scholarship partnership with Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), aimed at supporting academically gifted students facing financial hardship.
The initiative, unveiled this week, will see five undergraduate students each year receive fully funded scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, meals, and a laptop, ensuring beneficiaries are fully equipped to thrive in today’s digital learning environment.
Breaking Barriers Through Inclusive Education
At the heart of the programme is a strong focus on inclusion and equity. Of the five scholarships awarded annually, three are reserved for female students and two for male students, with priority given to orphans and economically disadvantaged youth.
This deliberate structure reflects a growing recognition within the education and business sectors that targeted support is essential to close opportunity gaps and empower underrepresented groups. By easing the financial burden, the partnership allows students to focus fully on their academic and personal development.

A Strategic Investment in Zimbabwe’s Future
The scholarship programme forms part of a five-year partnership between Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe and CUT, underscoring a long-term commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable national development.
In a statement accompanying the launch, the bank reaffirmed its purpose:
“Zimbabwe is our home, and we drive her growth.”
This aligns with broader efforts by the private sector to support education as a catalyst for economic transformation, particularly in fields driven by technology, research, and innovation.
Bridging Education and Industry
For Chinhoyi University of Technology, the partnership enhances its capacity to attract and retain talented students who might otherwise be excluded due to financial constraints. It also strengthens the link between academia and industry, a critical factor in preparing graduates for the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
Beyond financial support, access to laptops ensures that beneficiaries can actively participate in e-learning, research, and digital collaboration, key components of modern higher education.
Driving Community Impact
The initiative is expected to create a ripple effect beyond individual beneficiaries. By investing in students from disadvantaged backgrounds, the programme contributes to community upliftment, skills development, and long-term economic inclusion.
As Zimbabwe continues to position education as a cornerstone of development, partnerships like this highlight the growing role of corporates in shaping a more inclusive and opportunity-driven future.
