Marshall Munetsi’s red-hot form in France continues to light up Zimbabwean football after the Warriors vice-captain scored his third consecutive goal for Paris FC in a dramatic 1-1 draw against Olympique Lyonnais at Groupama Stadium.
The Zimbabwe international struck in the 63rd minute to put Paris FC ahead, reacting quickly inside the penalty area before drilling a low right-footed shot into the net from close range.
For a moment, it looked like Munetsi’s clinical finish would secure a famous away victory for the Paris club.
However, Lyon rescued a point deep into stoppage time when midfielder Corentin Tolisso converted a penalty in the 96th minute, cancelling out Munetsi’s opener and ending the match 1-1.
Despite the late heartbreak, Munetsi’s performance once again underlined the growing impact he is having since joining Paris FC on loan from English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Third Goal In Three Matches
The 29-year-old midfielder has now scored in three consecutive matches for Paris FC.
His scoring run began on 21 February against Toulouse, continued with the winner against Nice on 1 March, and now includes the strike against Lyon.
The run of goals has quickly made him one of the most influential players in the Paris FC midfield.
Munetsi returned to France earlier this season after a short but intense spell in England with Wolves, where he helped the club avoid relegation after joining them in February 2025.
However, a change in the technical setup and a calf injury that sidelined him for several weeks limited his minutes in the Premier League, eventually paving the way for his return to French football.
Perfect Timing For The Warriors
Munetsi’s rich vein of form could not have come at a better time for Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed the national team will participate in the regional tournament as part of preparations for upcoming international fixtures.
With Munetsi firing on all cylinders again, Zimbabwe will be hoping their vice-captain carries this club form into the national team setup.
For Warriors fans, the message from France is clear, Marshall Munetsi is back in rhythm, and Zimbabwe could be the biggest beneficiaries.
