Dynamos FC kicked off their 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign with a gritty 2-1 victory over Telone FC at Ascot Stadium on Sunday, recovering from an early setback to claim all three points.

The match had initially been postponed a day earlier due to a waterlogged pitch following heavy rain, but league officials eventually gave the green light for kickoff.

Telone made a dream start in front of their home crowd. Just two minutes into the game, forward Jerry Chipangura pounced inside the box and calmly picked his spot to put the Wifi Boys 1-0 ahead.

Dynamos, however, responded like a side determined to start the season strongly. The Glamour Boys gradually settled into their rhythm and found the equaliser in the 22nd minute, when Emmanuel Agyemang finished off a well-worked move after a neat assist from Valentine Chikwende.

With momentum now on their side, Dynamos continued pressing. Their persistence paid off in the 37th minute when Jairos Kasondo struck to give the Harare giants a 2-1 lead, capitalising on a defensive lapse after Telone failed to clear their lines.

The match was played on a slippery and difficult surface, with several players struggling for footing as the pitch still showed signs of the previous day’s heavy rain.

Telone pushed hard to get back into the game, creating a few chances through Chipangura and Leeroy Murape, but Dynamos held firm. Goalkeeper and defenders were forced into several crucial clearances as the hosts tried to force a late equaliser.

The second half also saw a number of heavy challenges and injury scares, with Dynamos’ Emmanuel Agyemang and Valentine Chikwende both receiving treatment during the match before continuing.

Telone’s best chance late on came in stoppage time, when they won a corner and a free kick in dangerous areas, but Dynamos defended resolutely to see out the result.

The final whistle confirmed a 2-1 victory for the Glamour Boys, a crucial response after their 5-0 defeat to Scottland in last weekend’s Castle Challenge Cup.

For Dynamos, it’s the perfect start to the new season, and an early reminder that the Glamour Boys still mean business in the PSL title race.
