Six AFCON appearances. Six group-stage exits. Zero knockout matches. One stubborn record haunting the Zimbabwe Warriors for over two decades. From Tunisia in 2004 to Morocco in 2025, Zimbabwe have never won more than one match at a single AFCON tournament. Promising moments? Yes. Consistency? Painfully missing.
Different captains have worn the armband. Different coaches have tried their luck. But the script has stayed the same. Let’s break down the men who led the Warriors into battle, and how their teams performed.

So… What is Going Wrong?
Zimbabwe’s AFCON struggles are not about talent, they’re about structure, mentality, and leadership off the pitch. Defensive lapses, poor game management, and chaotic preparations keep sabotaging good players when it matters most. Add a long-standing inferiority complex against Africa’s heavyweights, and matches are lost before the final whistle. Until Zimbabwe builds stability, plans professionally, and fixes its mental approach, AFCON campaigns will keep following the same painful script, promise, pressure, panic, and an early flight home.
