The Search Continues For Maradona…

A dramatic robbery that saw a school head lose 2025 ZIMSEC O-Level results has ended in relief after police recovered the stolen documents from a rubbish bin in Dangamvura, Mutare.
Chiwere Secondary School head, Tizai Gwazhi (49), had just collected the results from ZIMSEC offices when he was attacked on his way to a friend’s home. The results slips, school cash book and other official documents were snatched in a night-time ambush near ZAOGA Church in Area 3.
Police say quick follow-ups led to the arrest of MacCthy Tshuma of Gimboki South after he was spotted selling a cellphone matching Gwazhi’s stolen device. His arrest led detectives to a refuse bin where the missing O-Level results and school records had been dumped.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the recovery and described the robbery as violent and targeted at the satchel carrying official school material.
Gwazhi had travelled from Mutare CBD toward Dangamvura after attending a ZIMSEC workshop. Unfamiliar with the route, he disembarked at MaPipe and walked, only to be attacked by two men emerging from a maize field. The attackers fled with documents critical to the school’s academic administration.
The recovery prevents potential chaos for candidates awaiting results. Police are still hunting for the second suspect, known only as “Maradona.”
Authorities have urged school officials transporting examination material to exercise extreme caution and avoid travelling alone at night.
