Marshall Munetsi’s long wait is finally over…
By Advent Shoko
Zimbabwe Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi made his Paris FC debut in a gritty 2–1 away win over FC Nantes, marking his first competitive appearance since 3 December, when he hobbled off injured during Wolves’ clash with Nottingham Forest. That injury sidelined him for weeks and cruelly ruled him out of the AFCON finals in Morocco, a major personal and national setback.
Introduced in the 87th minute to replace Ilan Kebbal, Munetsi’s role was clear: lock down midfield, kill the game, and protect a priceless lead. He did exactly that, helping Paris FC see out a pressure-filled finish at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Paris FC struck early through Kebbal before Nantes responded after the break. The turning point came in the 78th minute when substitute Luca Koleosho fired home the winner, sealing a massive victory in what was effectively a six-pointer at the bottom of the table.
WHY THIS WIN MATTERS
The result reshapes the relegation picture:
- Paris FC (13th, 32 points) move four points clear of the relegation playoff.
- Nantes (16th, 30 points) remain stuck in the danger zone.
- Below them sit Auxerre and Metz, both struggling for survival.
- Only eight points separate 12th-placed Lorient from bottom-placed Metz, underlining how brutal the relegation fight has become.
For Munetsi, this was not just a debut, it was a statement of survival, resilience, and unfinished business. After months out injured and missing AFCON, his return comes at the exact moment Paris FC need leadership, steel, and experience.
If fitness holds, Munetsi could yet become the difference between survival and disaster for Paris FC.
