CAPS United reclaimed top spot on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after edging bitter rivals Dynamos FC 2-1 in a dramatic Harare Derby at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The victory saw Makepekepe leapfrog Hardrock FC, who had briefly gone top after their convincing 3-0 win over TelOne FC on Saturday.
Backed by a packed Rufaro atmosphere, CAPS United started brightly and were rewarded early when Ishmael Wadi headed home in the 10th minute to silence the Dynamos faithful and hand the Green Machine a crucial lead.
Dynamos struggled to break down a disciplined CAPS United side in the opening half, although Shave came close midway through the first period with a curling effort that narrowly missed the target.
The Glamour Boys returned from the break with greater urgency and pushed aggressively for an equaliser. Their pressure finally paid off in the 77th minute when Perfect was brought down inside the box, earning Dynamos a penalty.
The stadium erupted moments later as Chigwida confidently converted from the spot to level the match at 1-1 and revive hopes of a comeback for DeMbare supporters.
But the celebrations were short-lived.
CAPS United responded almost immediately with a decisive second goal that stunned the home crowd and restored their advantage. Dynamos failed to recover as the Green Machine held firm until the final whistle to seal one of the biggest wins of the season so far.
The result further intensifies the title race as CAPS United continue building momentum in a highly competitive campaign.
Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe didn’t hide his frustrations.
“Its always painful to lose against CAPS United,” said the Dynamos tactician.
The Harare Derby once again delivered drama, passion, noise, and heartbreak, exactly what Zimbabwean football fans had hoped for.
