Zimbabwe Warriors left wing-back Jordan Zemura missed Udinese ’s dramatic 2–2 Serie A draw against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium over the weekend after picking up a late muscular injury.

The Zimbabwe international was ruled out shortly before kick-off, with Italian reports indicating that Udinese’s medical team withdrew him due to a physical issue that requires further assessment. Zemura is expected to undergo tests this week to determine whether he will be available for Udinese’s next league clash against Juventus.

His absence forced Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic to reshuffle his options on the left flank, with Hassane Kamara returning to the starting line-up after recovering from a foot injury.

Despite the setback, Udinese looked on course for a famous away victory in Bergamo after producing an impressive performance against a strong Atalanta side.

The visitors stunned the home crowd when Thomas Kristensen headed Udinese into the lead in the 40th minute after meeting a cross from Nicolo Zaniolo. The defender’s well-timed header gave Udinese a 1–0 advantage heading into halftime.

Udinese doubled their lead ten minutes into the second half when striker Keinan Davis finished clinically from close range to make it 2–0 and silence the Gewiss Stadium.

However, Atalanta mounted a fierce late comeback through Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca, who scored twice in quick succession to rescue a point for the home side. The striker pulled one back with a powerful header in the 75th minute before heading in the equaliser just four minutes later to seal a dramatic 2–2 draw.

The result denied Udinese what would have been an important three points but still highlighted the team’s resilience away from home.

For Zimbabwean fans, attention now turns to Zemura’s fitness as the Warriors prepare for the Botswana Four Nations Tournament scheduled for 23–31 March. The left wing-back remains a key figure in Zimbabwe’s squad, and any injury concerns will be closely monitored ahead of the international games.
