Transport Minister Felix Mhona launched the Asphalt Plant in Harare to quicken road maintenance

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, today officially commissioned a new road surfacing and maintenance facility (Asphalt plant) in the capital. The plant which is designed to produce up to 120 tonnes of road material per hour, is expected to accelerate repair and rehabilitation works, ensuring safer and more durable roads for residents.

Earlier in the day, Minister Mhona had also opened a newly upgraded section of Harare Drive, part of the strategic Harare–Beitbridge Highway. The project aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance connectivity across key commercial and residential areas.

Officials say the facility is expected to streamline road construction and maintenance, offering efficient, high-quality infrastructure solutions that support both economic growth and everyday mobility. Residents can anticipate faster repairs and longer-lasting roads as the plant becomes fully operational.
