Willowvale smash-and-grab robbery was not the first in Harare

Smash-and-grab robberies have become a growing concern in Harare’s commercial zones, with criminals targeting motorists carrying cash or leaving valuables visible inside vehicles. Police have consistently warned motorists to avoid placing money or valuables on passenger seats and to stay alert in parking areas. Police also advise motorists to remain alert, especially at traffic lights and busy intersections where smash-and-grab incidents are common. Drivers should leave enough space between vehicles to escape quickly if threatened and avoid opening windows to strangers approaching the car unexpectedly.

While this case ended with arrests, authorities caution that pursuing suspects can be risky and advise the public to prioritise personal safety and alert police immediately.

The suspects are expected to appear in court facing theft charges.
