Zimbabwe Republic Police Make Multiple Arrests In Armed Robbery, Drug, And Dagga Cases

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a series of arrests linked to armed robbery, unlawful possession of medicines, and dagga across the country, following tip-offs from vigilant members of the public.

In Harare, Tanaka Java (42) and Ronald Rupare (28) were arrested for a daring armed robbery on 07 February 2026 at a Mukuru outlet in Mabelreign. The suspects allegedly attacked an employee and made off with US$5 631 and ZAR 26 600. Police responded quickly, tracking the suspects to a roadblock along Quinton Road, Avondale. While one suspect remains at large, authorities recovered ZAR 10 000 from the duo. ZRP praised public cooperation in the swift arrests.

Meanwhile, border police acted decisively against illegal medicines. On 08 February, Ozzie Sibindi (45) and Kilet Sibanda (33) were caught at Beitbridge Bus Search Bay with 82 boxes of Broncleer Cough Syrup and 38 boxes of Benylin Cough Syrup, all unregistered and hidden in black plastic. On the same day, Siluze Ncube (24) and Cliford Mufambi (40) were apprehended in Checheche Phase 5, Chipinge, with more contraband Broncleer syrup.

Dagga-related arrests also featured prominently. Takudzwa Chingozho (18) and Irvine Sibanda (22) were intercepted at a checkpoint along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road with three cobs of dagga, while in Madlambuzi, Christopher Dube (41) was caught at Maitengwe Border Post with 228 kgs of dagga, alongside boxes of Broncleer and Astra cough syrups and Calcium Magnesium tablets. Nyasha Mujongondi (38) was similarly arrested at Beitbridge Border Post for Astra Pain Cough Syrup possession.

The ZRP continues to urge citizens to report suspicious activity, stressing that public vigilance is key to combating crime. The force also reminded the public of the dangers of unregistered medicines and drug abuse.
