Job Vacancy: 31 Ranger III Positions Open At ZimParks in Matetsi, Northwest Matabeleland

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) is calling on passionate, physically fit, and nature-loving individuals to join its team as Ranger III (B3) across Northwest Matabeleland. The authority is recruiting 31 positions at Matetsi Unit 1 and Unit 5, offering candidates a chance to contribute directly to wildlife protection, anti-poaching efforts, and conservation management.

Successful applicants will report to the Senior Ranger and participate in a rigorous selection process at Hwange Main Camp. This is a hands-on, action-packed role for individuals who thrive outdoors and want to make a real difference for Zimbabwe’s wildlife and protected areas.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct anti-poaching patrols as directed
  • Monitor illegal activities, fire, and water management
  • Capture and translocate animals when required
  • Collect and submit field data for management planning
  • Provide intelligence on illegal activities
  • Attend to problem animals and invasive plant species
  • Perform day and night patrols
  • Participate in law enforcement duties to ensure offenders are brought to justice
  • Accompany and monitor hunting activities
  • Advise the public on handling human-wildlife conflicts

Candidate Requirements:

  • GCE Ordinary Level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of parks environment and basic understanding of wild animal behaviour
  • Physical fitness to endure challenging fieldwork
  • Strong interpersonal, professional, and collaborative skills
  • Aged between 18 and 30 years

Selection Process:

1. Report to Hwange Main Camp at 07:00hrs on 18 February 2026

2. Complete a physical test: 10km run in 45 minutes (male) or 1 hour (female)

3. First 100 participants proceed to push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups, and oral interview

4. Final 31 candidates selected based on overall performance

  • Detailed CV and written application
  • Suitable clothing for physical tests (running shoes, shorts, t-shirts)
  • Water and personal food supplies
  • Indemnity form (to be completed on arrival)
