Triangle United have parted ways with head coach Thomas Ruzive after a disastrous start to the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, leaving the club rooted near the bottom with zero points from four matches.
The decision follows a lengthy meeting held this evening, bringing an abrupt end to Ruzive’s short stint after rejoining the Lowveld side in January. He had returned to the club from Yadah FC, marking his second spell since 2022, replacing Genesis Mangombe, who moved back to Dynamos after steering Triangle to safety last season.
But the hoped-for stability never materialised. Triangle’s numbers paint a brutal picture, four straight defeats, eight goals conceded, and not a single goal scored. Losses to CAPS United (0-1), Chicken Inn (2-0), ZPC Kariba (0-1), and Herentals (0-1) have left the “Sugar Sugar Boys” in 17th place, under immediate pressure just weeks into the campaign.
Ironically, Ruzive had remained defiant even after the latest defeat, insisting performances were improving. He said after the loss to Herentals:
“The team is playing well but results are not coming.”
However, in football, results are the ultimate currency, and Triangle simply ran out of patience.
This latest coaching change continues a worrying trend at the club. Last season, Luke “Vahombe” Masomere was dismissed after just six games, highlighting a pattern of instability on the technical bench.
Attention now turns to who takes over, with former Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas already being strongly linked to the job. His experience could be seen as a stabilising option for a team clearly lacking confidence and cutting edge.
Triangle face Agama on April 2 at Gibbo Stadium, and whoever steps into the dugout will have little time to turn things around. Survival, not ambition, already looks like the immediate target.
For Ruzive, it’s a harsh reminder of the Premier Soccer League’s unforgiving nature. Just a month ago, he spoke confidently about building a competitive squad. Today, he leaves with a record that tells a very different story.
