Excerpt: Zimbabwean businessman Kuda Musasiwa defends advocate Fadzayi Mahere against accusations of being funded by ZANU PF, stressing her hard work, education, and independent stance. The rumours of her being “bought” risk undermining her legitimacy, argues Advent Shoko, as Mahere continues to push for accountability and political reform in Zimbabwe.

Harare – Zimbabwean businessman Kuda Musasiwa has strongly defended advocate Fadzayi Mahere amid swirling claims that she received substantial funding from the ruling ZANU PF regime. Critics have questioned her calls for “new leaders” while she was recently seen driving a luxury “Jaguar,” alleging she was nicodemusly dining with the same government she seeks to hold accountable.

Musasiwa, who managed Mahere’s political campaign in 2018 and is known on social media as the Begotten Son, dismissed the accusations, highlighting her long career and educational achievements:

“After pursuing her higher education at the University of Zimbabwe, earning a Bachelor of Law Honours degree in 2008, she furthered her academic journey with a Master of Laws in International Criminal Law and International Commercial Litigation from the University of Cambridge in 2011. Upon her return to Zimbabwe, she established her own legal practice and contributed to key initiatives, including the public inquiry on bond notes.”

Musasiwa added bluntly,

“Yes. She worked hard for many years and can afford to drive a fucking Jaguar. There are other ways to ‘make it’ without putting on a pamper and baby powder to twerk for Ganandaz.”

Mahere, a former parliamentarian, has remained a vocal critic of ZANU PF, continuing to demand accountability and reform even when former MDC and CCC leader Nelson Chamisa took a two-year sabbatical. Her social media campaigns and public statements, including resigning from Parliament citing state capture, have reinforced her position as an independent opposition voice.

The donor syndrome is pervasive in Zimbabwe, with youths often receiving cars and cash from wealthy patrons. Mahere has consistently argued that government reform is crucial so that young Zimbabweans can create their own wealth rather than rely on handouts.

The rumours of Mahere being “bought” risk undermining her legitimacy as a credible, independent voice advocating for accountability and meaningful political change.
