CAF A licensed coach Blessing Moyo eyes a return to Zimbabwe after success with several clubs in Botswana. The former Hwange FC player believes the time may finally be right to bring his experience back home.

Speaking to Zigoats.com from Botswana, Moyo expressed excitement over the revival of Zimbabwean football, pointing to the rise of ambitious projects such as Scottland FC, Hard Rock FC and MWOS.

“It’s so good to see that our football is back to where it belongs. The pre-season preparations are top notch. The financial investment in football is huge again. I hope they are not leaving the development structures. This season is going to be very competitive. It’s time I also come and share the knowledge I have gained over the years.”

Moyo parted ways with Botswana champions Jwaneng Galaxy in January 2025 after serving as Assistant Coach and later Interim Head Coach. He has since turned down approaches he felt lacked ambition, signalling that his next move must align with a serious long-term project.

A Coach With The Right Bwdges

Moyo is not just relying on experience, he is academically equipped for the modern game.

  • Preliminary Certificate (Botswana) – 2009
  • Intermediate Certificate (Zimbabwe) – 2009
  • Advanced Certificate (Zimbabwe) – 2010
  • CAF C Licence – 2010
  • CAF B Licence – 2012
  • CAF A Licence – 2014

That CAF A qualification places him among the highest-certified coaches in the region, fully eligible to handle elite domestic and continental assignments.

From Regional Benches To Continental Stages

Born in Redcliff on 16 September 1976, Moyo’s football grounding began under the mentorship of his father, Paul Moyo. He played for ZPC Hwange and Intundla before relocating to Botswana, where he turned out for clubs including Makgabisanaga, Nico United, Ecco City Greens and Notwane FC.

As a player, he won multiple domestic honours, including:

  • Chibuku League (2001)
  • Coca-Cola Cup (2006)
  • Kabelano Cup (2007)
  • Independence Cup titles
  • Several Mayor’s and President’s Cup medals

An injury in 2008 forced him into early retirement, but that setback became the beginning of a serious coaching career.

His technical journey includes:

  • Head Coach, Mega Com (2010)
  • Head Coach, Tonota FC (2010–2011)
  • Head Coach, Tafic Sporting Club (2011–2012; 2016/17 promotion to Premier League)
  • Assistant Coach, Ecco City Greens (2012–2013)
  • Head Coach, Mogoditshane Fighters (2013–2014)
  • Head Coach, BR Highlanders (2018–2021)
  • Assistant Coach, Jwaneng Galaxy (2022–2025)

At Galaxy, he was part of a historic era that delivered:

  • Back-to-back Botswana Premier League titles
  • Orange FA Cup success (2023/24)
  • Three GM’s Tournament titles
  • Mangaung Tournament triumph
  • Two appearances in the CAF Champions League group stages

Those continental campaigns sharpened his tactical discipline and game management under pressure.

Why Zimbabwe Clubs Should Listen

Moyo is multilingual, fluent in Setswana, English, Shona and Ndebele, a critical asset in dressing rooms across Southern Africa.

He understands development structures. He values youth systems. He has operated in both resource-constrained and high-investment environments.

While he has openly admired the culture and tradition of clubs such as Highlanders, Moyo is not limiting himself to one destination. He remains open to engaging with any ambitious and professionally run club that aligns with his football philosophy and long-term vision. For him, the badge matters, but the project matters even more.

Zimbabwean football is entering a phase where structure, professionalism and continental ambition matter more than ever. Clubs looking for stability, regional experience and CAF exposure would find in Moyo a coach who has grown through every level of the game, from dusty regional pitches to Africa’s biggest club competition.

He is not chasing headlines.

He is ready for the next serious project.
