HARARE – The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development announced the temporary closure of Solomon Mujuru Road (formerly Kirkman Road) urging drivers and commuters to plan ahead. The statement seen by ZiGoats states that the road will be partially closed for all-day roadworks this Thursday, 5 February 2026.
The statement added that the closure shall affect the section stretching from N Richards Turn Off to Sanganayi Inn Junction to allow for essential road rehabilitation works aimed at improving travel safety and infrastructure quality. The ministry said in a statement:
“Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternative routes and allow extra travel time for delays. Please exercise patience, drive with caution, obey all road signs, and follow instructions from traffic controllers. We regret any inconvenience and appreciate the public’s cooperation during this essential upgrade.”
The partial closure is part of the ministry’s #KilometerByKilometer initiative, a nationwide programme targeting safer, smoother, and more reliable roads for all Zimbabweans. Officials stressed that commuters need to factor in delays, stay alert for detours, and prioritise safety.
