Dynamos Football Club captain Emmanuel “Hybrid” Jalai has officially ended his six-year stay with the Harare giants, closing a chapter defined by loyalty, leadership and consistent top-level performances.

In an emotional farewell message, Jalai confirmed he is leaving DeMbare to pursue “new challenges,” thanking the club, teammates, technical staff and the famed “7 million supporters” for unwavering support through highs and lows. Wearing the Dynamos armband, he said, remains a lifelong honour.

Jalai departs as one of the most reliable right-backs in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League era. Calm under pressure, tactically disciplined and physically resilient, he grew into a natural leader on and off the pitch. His consistency earned him the captaincy and made him a pillar in Dynamos’ defensive structure during turbulent and transitional seasons.

Beyond club football, Jalai’s stock rose sharply on the international stage. He was among Zimbabwe’s standout performers in last year’s AFCON qualifiers, AFCON finals and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, cementing his place as a trusted Warriors regular. His work rate, defensive awareness and ability to support attacks made him a key asset for the national team.

Speculation around his next destination has been intense. Early links pointed to Scottland FC, while rumours of a CAPS United move tied to a European pathway also circulated. However, strong indications now suggest Jalai is edging closer to a move to South Africa’s Betway Premiership side Durban City, a step many see as long overdue for the Warriors defender.

Sources say Jalai and Dynamos reached a mutual agreement to part ways, with the player assuring club leadership that he would always prioritise DeMbare’s interests should opportunities abroad stall.

For Dynamos, Jalai’s exit leaves a leadership and experience gap that will not be easy to fill. For Jalai, the move represents reward for years of discipline, patience and quiet excellence.

As he crosses the Limpopo in search of bigger stages, Emmanuel Jalai leaves Dynamos not just as a former captain, but as a modern club servant whose legacy will be felt long after the final whistle.
