The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has postponed the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 1 clash between Telone FC and Dynamos FC after persistent rainfall left Ascot Stadium’s pitch waterlogged.
The high-profile fixture, scheduled for Saturday, 7 March 2026, was expected to be one of the headline matches of the league’s opening weekend before weather conditions forced organisers to delay the game.
In a statement, the PSL confirmed the decision was taken to protect both players and the playing surface.
“The Premier Soccer League wishes to advise all stakeholders that the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between Telone FC and Dynamos FC which was scheduled to take place today at Ascot Stadium has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch following persistent rainfall.”
League officials added that the move was made in line with PSL regulations.
“In the interest of player safety and to preserve the quality of the playing surface, a decision has been made in accordance with the PSL Rules and Regulations to defer the fixture due to force majeure.”
The match has now been rescheduled for Sunday, 8 March 2026 at 10:00am, still at Ascot Stadium. Said PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare:
“The match has now been rescheduled for tomorrow Sunday 8 March 2026 at 1000 hours at Ascot Stadium. The Premier Soccer League regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the support of all our stakeholders.”
