Two Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers from the Harare Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide Division were shot dead during an operation in Zaka, Masvingo Province, early this morning.
CID spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachael Muteveri confirmed the incident but referred further questions to Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi. Muteveri told local media:
“Yes, I can confirm the matter, but you can get a comment from Assistant Commissioner Nyathi. He is seized with the matter right now.”
Efforts to obtain a comment from Nyathi were unsuccessful as his mobile phone went unanswered at the time of publication.
