Highlanders Football Club has formally partnered with Corporate 24 Medical Aid, in a strategic move designed to strengthen the club’s medical support system for players, technical staff, and administrators. The sponsorship, effective immediately and set to run through the end of 2026, aims to ensure “immediate access to professional medical attention, timely diagnostics, and specialised treatment, guaranteeing elite recovery and overall well-being throughout the competitive season,” the club said in a statement.
This partnership comes as Highlanders navigate a period of financial volatility and regulatory scrutiny. In 2025, FIFA temporarily banned Bosso from registering new players due to unsettled debts, though the ban was lifted after the club resolved payments to former coaches, thanks to a donation from Wicknell Chivayo.
Meanwhile, corporate sponsors have stepped in to stabilise operations. CBZ Holdings pledged support including branded membership cards and refurbishments to the iconic Hotel California, while businessman Wicknell Chivayo committed over US$1 million in sponsorship, including a team bus and operational funds.
Highlanders’ statement seen by ZiGoats.com emphasised the significance of the deal:
“This collaboration underscores Highlanders FC’s unwavering commitment to prioritising player health and maintaining international standards of care within the team environment.”
With a growing network of sponsors, the club seeks not only to enhance on-field performance but also to address long-standing concerns about governance, financial transparency, and sustainability.
Founded in 1926, Highlanders FC remains one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated clubs. While Corporate 24 Medical Aid ensures players receive elite medical care, Highlanders’ broader challenge remains: securing stable funding and professional management to match the club’s prestige both on and off the pitch.
