CAPS United secured a 1-0 victory over Malawi’s Silver Strikers in an international friendly on Sunday, 15 February 2026, at Silver Stadium. The only goal came from Bret Amidu, giving the Green Machine a confidence-boosting start to the pre-season.

The team travelled by bus to Malawi, where excitement was high among players as they prepared for their first match abroad. Upon arrival, the squad was warmly received by the Ambassador of Zimbabwe and Dean of Diplomacy to Malawi, Mrs Nancy Saungweme, who shared encouraging words ahead of the clash.

The match kicked off at 14:30, with both sides showing early intensity. Silver Strikers tested CAPS United’s defence in the opening minutes, while the visitors dominated possession and created chances through coordinated midfield play. Nyasha Gurende made a key save to keep the match level, and Lloyd Njaliwa marshalled the defence effectively against the hosts’ attacks.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams demonstrating tactical discipline. CAPS United introduced fresh legs in the second half, adding creativity and dribbling flair, which proved decisive. In the 50th minute, Bret Amidu found the back of the net following sustained pressure in midfield. CAPS United maintained their lead, despite late efforts from the home side, and secured the win.

Following the victory, head coach Takesure Chiragwi expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance. He said:

“Firstly, I want to thank God who gave us the opportunity to come and play today. We faced a very, very strong team. This was our first competitive match, and the Silver Strikers have been playing all season, so we knew it would be a challenge. I am happy with what we wanted to see in terms of structure and preparation; the players showed resilience and tactical awareness.”

Chiragwi praised the second-half substitutions, which added creativity and flair in midfield. He said:
